- Continue to thoroughly water tree, shrubs, lawn areas and planting beds until the ground freezes. Keep Watering!
- Complete removal of fallen leaves and debris to protect from overwintering insects and disease organisms.
- Cut back perennials to 4-5”, leaving ornamental grasses and other winter interest plants.
- Mulch boxwood and broad-leaf evergreens before the ground freezes.
- Protect trees from mouse, rabbit, squirrel and deer damage with plastic or wire mesh trunk guards.
- Winterize water features if not planning to run during winter.
- Mow lawn final time at 2”
- Feed birds and keep feeders clean.
- Planting of evergreens and deciduous trees and shrubs can continue until the ground freezes.
- Complete planting of spring-flowering bulbs for color next season.
- Incorporate lime and fertilizer into annual and vegetable gardens for next spring.
- Complete pruning of late blooming trees and shrubs.
- Prune all plants that need dead, diseased, crossing or weak branches.
- Starting planning Christmas decorating. Decide your holiday theme and color scheme. Determine which trees and focal points you’re going to light for the holidays.
