Tropical plants can be a perfect patio addition, and are also great accents for flower beds. In their containers, tropical plants can be enjoyed outside throughout the summer months. Be sure to adjust plants slowly to sunny locations over a period of several weeks, as it’s possible for plants to suffer sunburn. Keep in mind that tropical plants will not survive outside during the winter in states that are subject to freezing temperatures.
Some popular plants for low light areas include:
- Snake Plant
- Peace Lily

Lawn Care FAQ
For best results, we recommend a 4-step process. To maximize the effectiveness of the fertilizer use Jonathan Green Mag-I-Cal to adjust soil pH. This product ensures maximum nutrient uptake for grass plants.
Apply these steps around the following holidays:
- First Step: Apply around Easter to feed and prevent crabgrass
- Second Step: Apply around Memorial Day to prevent broadleaf weeds like dandelions
- Third Step: Apply around 4th of July for a summer feeding
- Fourth Step: Apply around Labor Day
Use a broadcast or drop spreader according to manufacturer’s instructions. If you need help learning this method one of our English Gardens in-store experts can provide a demonstration.
If you purchase the Season-Long Lawn Fertilizer Program we will rent a spreader to you, for free!
Grass seed can be planted any time of year, but Fall is the best time. Spring is the next best time when the ground temperature is warm. During the Spring, use a lawn fertilizer with a starter fertilizer, rather than a crabgrass preventer, which will keep the seed from germinating.
You’ll usually want to keep your lawn between two and three inches tall. A great rule of thumb is to remove no more than one-third of the blade at a time.
Lawns require about an inch of water each week, either from rain or supplemental methods. Deep waterings that are less frequent are best to help develop strong roots.
Moles eat grubs. If you get rid of the grubs, the moles will look elsewhere for food.
Christmas FAQ
Yes, a tree stand is always included. We also carry heavy-duty tree stands for artificial trees, which we highly recommend for giant trees or anything placed in a windy area.
Most boxes will fit into the trunk of a car. After you’ve picked out a few tree options online give us a call for specific box dimensions and measure the space ahead of time. This way you’ll never waste a trip. We know how valuable your time is!
English Gardens artificial Christmas trees range from table-top sizes (2 to 3 feet tall) to 15 feet tall. However, trees that are 7 ½-feet tall are the most commonly purchased. Most homes have an 8-foot ceiling allowing the appropriate amount of room for a tree topper or angel!
