Bring fall’s beautiful colors indoors this season. English Gardens selection of blooming house plants will give your home the bright oranges, yellows, burgundies and reds the festive autumn season offers.
Here are a few of our favorite autumn-toned house plants:
Chrysanthemums – aka Mums – are a classic plant for the fall, perfect for your home, as well as a hostess gift. Mums like moderate light, giving you plenty of options as to where you’ll place them!
Ornamental Pepper plants are a shrubby little plant with zesty (and hot!) peppers. They’ll add a variety of color – red, purple and yellow – all on the same plant. These plants prefer a location with full sun, although they will tolerate moderately bright light.
Jerusalem Cherry plants are also referred to as Christmas Cherry or Winter Cherry. This plant will give your house a beautiful pop of cherry orange from its berries, which come from dainty white flowers. Try to situate the plant in full sun, if possible, although they will tolerate moderate light.
Chinese Lanterns have beautiful red-orange inflated seed pods which gives the plant its common name. These papery pods enclose a fruit that is edible, but not very tasty. The pods are often used as a dried flower. They prefer a sunny location in your home.
Kalanchoe plants are thick-leaved succulents. The clusters of tiny flowers – ranging in colors from peach to bright red – produce a large bloom above their hardy foliage. The flowers are long lasting and like part sun to lightly shaded areas.
Pixie Lilies are a dwarf variety of Asiatic lilies that will reach a mature height of 12 to 14 inches. The bright orange blossoms have an elegance to them, bringing a refreshing garden feeling to any room. Pixie Lilies like bright light.
