Plant Spotlight: Specimen Tree: Beeches
A beech tree can really make a statement as an ornamental tree. Beeches have smooth, grey – colored bark, and a variety of leaf colors, depending on the type. The Tri-Color Beech has leaves that appear soft pink in the spring, turning green with cream colored edges by summer. The Purple-Leaf Weeping Beech features dark purple leaves and a weeping habit. These trees grow between 80 and 100 feet tall, so proper placement is key.
