What’s New: Summer-flowering Bulbs for 2022
Summer-flowering bulbs are in stock and we have some beautiful new varieties this year.
Unlike Spring-flowering bulbs (like tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths) that need to be planted in the Fall, Summer-flowering bulbs, like dahlias, gladiolus, and lilies, are planted in the spring. They are a great way to have continuous color in your garden all season long.
As soon as the ground warms up and the threat of frost is gone it’s time to plant.
A few rules of thumb when planting Summer-flowering bulbs are:
- Plant bulbs at a depth that is 3 times the width of the bulb. So if your bulb is 2 inches wide, dig a hole that is 6 inches deep.
- Amend your soil with manure or compost to create well-draining soil. Bulbs can start to mold if they sit in wet or soggy soil.
- After planting, be sure to water the area thoroughly. Allow the soil to dry out between watering.

GLADIOLUS SONATE

These large-flowered blooms will be show-stoppers in your garden this summer. White centered flowers with lavender tips are the perfect touch to your yard.
DAHLIA KENNERMERLAND
Bloom: Early to Late Summer
Size: Up to 48 Inches Tall
Light: Partial Shade
The Kennemerland Dahlia will add some sunny color to your garden. Perfect as a cut flower, these Dahlias are a must-have plant for the summer.
DAHLIA BABYLON
Bloom: Summer to Frost
Size: Up to 48 Inches Tall
Light: Full Sun
These showy large flowers are perfect as cut flowers or adding a dramatic look to your garden. They also attract pollinators for an added bonus.
CALLA LILY PICASSO
Bloom: Mid-summer to frost
Size: 16-20 Inches Tall
Light: Full Sun
These unique Calla Lilies start with a deep purple center and fade to white at the edges. Calla Lilies also make excellent container plants.
CANNA WYOMING
Bloom: All Summer
Size: 3-4 Feet Tall
Light: Full Sun
Add a cheerful touch to your garden with these stunning Canna blooms. Burgundy foliage topped with orange flowers makes these a must-have in the garden this summer.
CALLA LILY CAPTAIN VENTURA
Bloom: Late Spring to Early Summer
Size: Up to 15 Inches Tall
Light: Full Sun
These large blossomed Calla Lilies are the perfect addition to your summer garden this year. With their creamy white flowers atop of green foilage with white speckles, these are truly one of a kind.
